Winchester Mountain, WA
In preparation for our 4 day ski-vacay at Scottish Lakes next weekend, Cary and I took our first overnight ski tour of the season. Winchester Mountain is a short jaunt in the summer, but when the road is closed, and the summer route is full of avalanche chutes and death cornices, it turns into an 11 mile slog with 4000 ft of elevation gain. WOOOO. My legs were so tired on the way down, snowplowing on the flat road was a struggle, but it was totally worth it for a night of solitude and mountain views from the lookout.
