Pre-christmas Traditions

Inspired by this neat couple, Cary and I started our own little pre-christmas tradition this year. After work we put on the christmas tunes, drank wine by candlelight, and opened presents from each other. We had a $5 limit this year due to our recent GIANT purchase: a house, but I kind of think we should do it every year! It's hard to think of things the other person really wants at that price point, and forces you to be creative and thoughtful.

I felt like I had picked out the neatest $5 gift possible (a nerdy/engineer-y pair of boxers with hammers, tape measurers, and drills all over them) but was absolutely bested by Cary's gift of Jeni's Ice Cream!! He had tracked down a local supplier (woooottt!!), secretly made the purchase, and hidden it away in the freezer... what a catch :)

Christmas Wishlist

Things I'm wishing for in the next week:

1. Sunshine, beaches, and Borks
2. Cousin time in the capitol
3. Seeing these smiling faces again
4. Christmas decor on South Main St.

So Much News

I'm usually a pretty regular blogger (actually that's a lie, I'm an extremely regular blogger! like at least one post every week day) so it's been killing me to not have posted anything in soooo long!! The past few weeks I've been experiencing a a classic case of "so much excitement to write about that there's no time to write". I could go into all the long and drawn out details, but I'm a bit tired out from all the excitement, so I'll sum it up with: Cary and I are homeowners!!

After 2 months of solid house hunting, and another 2 months of battling it out with lenders (our dream house was built in 1915, not exactly a lender's favorite) we finally signed for ownership on wednesday!! It took a whole hour to go through the giant stack of documents, but I got some really good practice time signing "Kelly Bork". Haha, I think my signature almost felt natural, and not full of almost-signed-my-maiden-name-oopses by the end.

Christmas Needle

The Space Needle is currently decked out with lights to look like a christmas tree at the top. Love it.

Relaxing today with a bit of expressionist / abstract art creation. The colors in this piece are taken from the swatches I've created in photoshop the past few weeks, and in a way represent time and effort spent for a variety of clients.

Delightful Details No. 6

Line 'em up.

Hand lettered weld bead type. Impressive!

Nom Nom

Should I be surprised by the fact that right now in my iPhoto, the album covers for the past 3 months are all photos of food? Now that Cary and I are both working we have far less time to cook, but when it happens, it's a serious event. Tonight he made Skyline Chili 4-ways from scratch (which is difficult in Washington, no cans of skyline chili in the grocery store here) very delicious!
